April is always delightful, regardless of the weather, as it greens the land and returns our migrating birds.
The tree swallows are back and seriously pondering their real estate options. There are twenty-four nest boxes here to choose from. Location, location, location!!!

I snapped this picture of my south facing living room window this morning.
Can't believe what a champion bloomer this little viola is! I rescued it last fall as a very small, self-seeded plant in the driveway. It never paused all winter in pumping out cheerful flowers which look like smiling wee faces.

Our election is just over and I believe that Canadians made the right choice. Mark Carney appears to be a strong, hard-working and sensible leader. He certainly has many challenges ahead to shepherd this vast and diverse country.

Hi Florence, your photos are so nice and wow--24 boxes for all your friends! I also saw the news about Mark Carney, both happy (and envious) for you & Robin and all the other good people of Canada. I hope Ellie Mae is excited about spring too. :^)
ReplyDeleteYes, Ellie Mae is VERY excited about Spring, Doug. Her passion is hunting for mice and now that the snow is gone, she is in her element. Even choosing to stay out at night now. I've liked Mike Carney 's leadership so far. However, he only won a minority and the Conservatives will not make life easy for him. Anyway, I sure hope your health continues to improve and you get to enjoy (and share in your posts) many good adventures with your friends! ❤️🦉
DeleteHi Florence, lovely to pop over and see your new post! I have noticed the swallows are back. We saw some skimming over a pond a few days ago. Gorgeous photo of your pot of violas, the goldfinches and the Canadian flag. We were just around the corner from our house today on our walk when we spotted a goldfinch standing in the middle of the road at a busyish intersection. I walked over to it and it didn’t fly off. I herded it over to a grassy area, hopefully it was just maybe just stunned from flying into a car. Spring finally has sprung this past week. Lots of daffodils blooming and the trees are coming out. A walk in Presqu’ile is on the schedule for tomorrow. Apparently the red trilliums are blooming along with other Spring flowers. Love to Ellie Mae!😻 Take care Florence!❤️❤️
ReplyDeleteRobin
When I put up that Canadian flag I was a little worried the birds might find it scary. Boy was I wrong! They don't even look at it no matter how it dances and snaps in the wind. They even hold on to the pole and perch on the top part. I think they like it. I hope the goldfinch you found has recovered. Must check our bush lot for trilliums soon. The white ones are more common but our bush only has red ones. Enjoy your walk in beautiful Presqu’ile tomorrow. Supposed to be good weather. Thanks for your visit, Robin. May flowers about to bedazzle us! ❤️🦉
DeleteIt's a wonderful time of year!
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is, Jennifer! Wasn't that a horrid wind storm we just had?! Perhaps your bat was seeking shelter in your house. Yes, I do follow your blog each day. ❤️🦉
DeleteSuch a beautiful series of photos! Thank you so much for sharing, and warm greetings from Montreal!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I totally agree that we Canadians made the right choice. Mark Carney seems to be the right person for us.
ReplyDeleteYour province played a big role in getting Carney elected, Linda. He has a lot of challenges ahead. Wouldn't want his job for the world! Thanks for the shout-out and I return warm greetings (on this chilly day) from Ottawa South. ❤️🦉
