Ordered over a year ago, I finally received the handsets for my doors. My new doors were installed with temporary nickle plated knobs. The new, Venetian Bronze handles make a much bolder statement.

Usually, I travel not further than to the grocery or hardware store and back. But when my friends invited me along on a trip to Almonte, Ontario I gratefully jumped at the chance! The attraction was the Bloomfest Garden Art Show, at the Whitehouse Nursery and Display Gardens. Their daylilies were at their best and just one of the reasons you could hear exclamations of "Wow, wow, wow!!!" from customers all over their gardens.

Happy to say that the Barn Swallow couple successfully raised their brood of five babies. It takes only a short time before the fledglings are strong fliers and taken miles away by the parents to rivers for the best concentration of flying insects. So I was really surprised to find that two of the youngsters are still hanging around and roosting in my garage at night. Sometimes in the very nest they were hatched in!

It was fun to watch and listen as the house wrens scrambled to raise their broods. Chicks calling for food and parents calling back to be patient. Hardly a moment of silence. The volume and variety of insects was very impressive.
